Even local business can afford to be funny
Apparently local merchants can afford to have a bit of sense of humor in their ads. After all, who among you doesn't snicker just a bit every time you pass that Tacoma Screw sign. I know I do! Last week I noticed a billboard above the corner of 9th and Pacific for LeRoy Jewelers that caught my eye:

It may be something of an industry term but buying "naked" gemstones isn't what comes to mind for me. With my modern, rather tech-focused mind I though of shopping naked as in at home on the internet. Lo, if you noticed the lack of linkage to LeRoy above that's because they have no website which is also evident by the lack of a URL on the billboard itself.
Anyway, since the day of giving is close to upon us, what's your favorite online (a.k.a. naked-shopper friendly) retailer? Roughly what percentage of online versus brick and mortar shopping did/will you do this year?

My fave is one of the old dogs, Amazon.com. Normally I do about half of my shopping online and half at brick and mortars (mainly because I procrastinate way too much). Since I'm heading out of state for Christmas this year, I managed to do all my shopping online and am just having everything shipped there. One less thing that I have to deal with at the airport.

I believe local advertising agency JayRay is responsible for the content of LeRoy billboard campaigns. Last time they made a big deal on their website when the "tired of men staring at your breasts" sign was vandalized. anyhow, GO TEAM!

I'm definitely of eye-catching, seemingly risque ads like this. Keeps people on their toes!

I'm partial to overstock.com. Great shopping experience there. I think I did about 70% of my shopping online this year. The items I didn't buy online were too heavy, thus costing too much in shipping charges.

Ooo, haven't been to Overstock for a while but I liked it when we put them on our wedding registry.
