Quick pre-work change of wardrobe

I've been sick with a head/throat/whatever thing for the last half week. Although I was good enough to go snowboarding yesterday there's still a bit of this bug lingering in my system. This morning it prompted me to change clothes.

Sometimes, I'll spill some juice or cereal. Others, it will be some chalky bits from my deodorant. Today I recoiled before a sneeze then let it out as I normally do. Hey, they say "Bless you," because of the demons that made you have such an outburst in the first place. It's gotta be loud and proud or it ain't worth it, as far as I'm concerned.

Unfortunately for me (and my cozy dark green long sleeved shirt) something came loose and shot out my nose. Like a sickly string of pearls, a mostly clear goo thrust out with my sneeze and straight down the front (yes, about 6 inches or so) of my shirt. I actually had a good laugh over it and just chalked it up as a minor casualty in the larger war on germs inside Kevin.

Too much information? I think not! Admit it, this sort of thing has happened to you.

This may be one of the few times that some readers may be thankful that you did not post any pictures.

Indeed. The harsh reality of being sick, no doubt. I'm not usually one to write about bodily functions but this was just too amusing.

That is disgusting! Maybe Sarah needs to start approving your entries before you post them since you obviously don't understand the concept of oversharing. Ack! Ick! Shudder!

As I recently posted for Kelly Davenport, here are my advised remedies to keep those bodily functions in check! I have found these helpful yet slightly disturbing rituals beneficial in taking the fight out of a fiesty cold.

1. Keep a constant supply of this hot brew. Fill a mug about halfway with water, add a spoonfull of lemon juice, two spoonfulls of honey, and about as much apple cider vineagar as you can stand. Heat it up and start sipping, while fleeting it does help clear up congestion if you can get over the smell.

2. Spike your chicken soup with cayenne. The spice is proven to help increase circulation, and some believe it can burn out a cold. The jury is still out on the medical validity for me, but it sure makes me feel better. Since you can't smell you probably can't taste much either so you can load that baby up with the hot stuff!

3. Put vicks vapor rub in a wax warmer or oil warmer and place it near wherever you choose to wax and wane.

4. I swear by Paula Deen, she just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Watching her on foodnetwork keeps me in a good mood, and I can pretend she is my mom making me all those deliciously fattening delectables to nurse me back health.

5. Put oil of oregano in everything you eat and drink, it is said to have healing properties. I have been known to dab it up my schnauze too (yes I used a q-tip!), it really helps clear up the old sinuses.

Hope this helps!

Thanks iheart! That's some great stuff. I especially like the chix soup w/cayenne though my lovely wife will probably need to be a few miles away while I enjoy it.

I've done the vapor rub but I take to melting it down in a bowl of nearly boiling water. Cleared me up great earlier this week.

Stay healthy! ~ Kevin

Sorry to hear you are having germ battles again. It is good that you can let it all hang out on your site every so often. It keeps people guessing and coming back for more. Feel better my freind and have a happy holiday if I don't see you before Christmas.
