Plenty of white stuff -- How much did you get? (update 3)

Measuring 6 inches of snow in North TacomaAfter a quick dinner with friends at the Spar last night it started to dump snow around 7pm. On our short drive home up the hill the white stuff immediately stuck and changed the landscape and conditions around us. Seemed like it snowed the rest of the night I was awake and this morning we were left with a serious blanket -- 6" worth here in the North End of Tacoma. This could make for an interesting time getting to the airport tonight. The sky this morning though is really stunning with all the eerie reflected light from the snow. I snapped a couple pics below.

So, do tell -- how much snow did you get over night? Got any photos? Send them my way.

Update @ 7:16am

After an early morning of getting up at 6am *groan* I expected to see little to no snow since as of 10:30 last night not single flake was falling. I was supprised to wake up and find nearly 4" of snow all over our yard and neighborhood.
After hearing my husbands story of driving home from work at 6am this morning I hardly want to brave the roads today, I think I will just work from my home computer and enjoy the beauty and not the frustration and fear of going into a ditch.

thanks! The snow is still pretty crazy. I just drove to the store and I don't think I saw a single patch of pavement on any road. I can't remember the last time we had this much snow here.

In wake of the thundersnow Broadway became a nice long skating rink! Stranded at home yesterday due to the imminent death plunge down or up the hills on broadway, my spouse and I camped out at Tully's for a while and watched a bus go sideways from St. Helens to Pacific.

Then we meandered down to 4th and Broadway and watched as drivers tirelessly attempted to climb the hill to St. Helens . . . what entertainment! I could only shake my head in wonder as car after car would inevitably slide back down. When the vehicularly challenged would give in, we were ready to push them out of their predicament.

Today, I bussed it to my office as the ice rink is still intact. As soon as my day is done, it's off to observe the melee once again . . . and then climb the hill for a pint at Doyles!

Had I not been mostly hold up at my place yesterday it would've been fun to witness some of the slipping and sliding. We did have to drive to the airport and, I'll tell ya, I've never crawled down the 30th St. hill more slowly. Made it fine though and we're on our way to San Francisco!

I haven't left the house yet because I work from home and my car is still burried. Giving Masa a try tonight, though, so I guess I'll finally brave the elements.

Have fun in SF! I hope it's much warmer there.

I drove up and down the 30th St. hill the night it snowed (at around 2am or so). It was a bit slippery but not too bad. Honestly, I didn't have any problems driving around north Tacoma and downtown at all that night... probably lending to my inability to fully understand why people think they're so unable to drive that they have to park their cars on the side of Schuster Parkway. Oh well...

What a freeze. A few places are slick but most things are still open.
