Photos ~ United Methodist nearly gone
After a few previous visits it looks as though Tacoma's historic United Methodist Church is nearly gone. Like a large ship slipping below the surface, only the tall tower and a large pile of rubble remain.
I stopped by this morning and snapped the following pics.

Donor wall update - Century Park meets the Plaza? (update 1)
There's a bit of buzz going on that may see the proposed pedestrian blocking donor wall and Century Park re-located over to the Plaza. Details are hazy but the News Tribune's OpEd blog has the latest scoop.

As I commented there, this would be a great way to bring some life and texture to the Plaza while allowing a pedestrian-friendly opening between Pacific and the Bridge of Glass. Heck, put back the iron fence and simply leave a couple gaps and I'm pretty sure we'd all be happy. I'd love to see it wide open but any passage there would be a huge advance for residents and tourists navigating downtown on foot.
