North 30th St. closed for maintenance June 4th and 5th
It's amazing how quickly roads can decay into disrepair. With harsh winter weather and especially temperatures this can be true of pretty much anywhere. Even passages through the North End aren't immune. ;)

North 30th Street just west of Orchard will be closed for maintenance today and tomorrow from 7am to 7pm. This section a block or two off Orchard has developed swarms of potholes and divets some of which I've seen get 4-6" deep -- darn near scary for a car's suspension and especially motorcycles. I presume Tacoma doesn't have the budget WSDOT does else I'd suggest they lessen the hours or do it at night since this is a pretty busy thoroughfare during rush hour. Nevertheless, I'd suggest taking nearby 26th Street to or from either Stevens or Orchard to avoid the repair work.

Video ~ Foggy Narrows bridges from the train
On her way south last Friday wifey Sarah shot this great video from the train.
Pretty impressive view and weather especially considering how toasty it was around that time. It'll be a sad day when/if the Amtrak is re-routed from this lovely route along the water once the new Sounder track to Lakewood is built. Screw saving 8 minutes, I'd take these views over that any day.
P.S. - Never mind the pinky in that shot. She didn't mean it to be there and wasn't pointing at anything in particular.
