Coffee & Rhetoric for 6/28
Coffee & Rhetoric's back and on it's new monthly schedule! If you thought last week's City Council candidate forum needed more excitement stop by C&R tonight. Julie over at urbanXchange has promised a great show. It shouldn't be a straight Q&A session but more of an interactive experience. I even heard murmurs of a "speed campaigning" segment. I'm intrigued!

Old Premium Motors building facade changes
The two large, conjoined brick structures that use to house Premium Motors is getting a little clean-up work done. Nearly all gone now are all the former business' signage. I haven't peeked inside but the exterior is getting some TLC. With the signs gone more of the brick facade shows through. The charming wooden window frames also got a re-paint as did the building trim.
Since there's still "For Lease" signs all over I presume this is a step in making the building's identity a little more neutral for would-be tenants to use as more of a blank slate for their business ideas. Whatever the case, hopefully the space will get filled with someone who's willing to deal with all the Sounder-related construction sure to be coming soon. This area is certainly one local "dead zone" that could use some life.
