Wine, beer, gelato, and sorbetto all at Firehouse
So they really are cranking things up a notching at Firehouse over on 6th and Union. As I mentioned earlier, they're still yet to wisely add beer and wine to their menu. However, a barista there yesterday told me the owner was waiting until their new refrigerator case came in along with their selection of gelato and sorbetto. Now that everything has arrived this week could be the week all four treats will be available.
Hopefully by "this week" they mean by tomorrow's Beans & Seens which would be an oh-so-awesome way to satisfy everyone in our group.

A farewell from Steak Out's Gary
While at Art on the Ave yesterday I saw a sign in the window at the former Gary's Steak Out. It bid a fond farewell to locals after 20 years of dishing up food in Tacoma. The restaurant and building are now owned by Charlie down the street at the Primo Grill who promises good things for the space.

Well, to Gary and company, I'll say this: I only visited the Steak Out only once on my birthday last year. We truly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere that darn near made us feel like family. Thanks for that and best wishes to you and yours in the future!
Have anything you want to say to Gary? Drop it in the comments below and I'll be sure to get them to him.

Multimedia Monday - The Kalakala, Ma Chihuly's balls, and preemptive cool down
Plenty of fun stuff popping up online to tantalize the eyes and ears. See how TAM installed Ma Chihuly's glass spheres in that cool infinity reflective outdoor display case. Someone in a boat snapped a couple shots of the ailing Kalakala (photo 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) as it rots moored in the Hylebos waterway. Cool down a little by watching some lovely swaying trees out at Bellarmine before the days grow too hot to bear. Speaking of bears and cooling down, how about a couple Point Defiance Zoo polar bears playing in the water. Neither this nor this helps cool me down but perhaps this will.
Cheers!
