Weekend Events ~ Blues, Bridges and more
Summer weekends are always busy with events and this one is no exception. Saturday starts with a Transformers collectible convention out at the King Oscar. The Old Town Blues Festival is on all afternoon and continues at local businesses through the evenint. The local gay and lesbian community will fill Wright Park with food, music, and art at Out in the Park. There's also a grand opening for the Middle Floor Merchants at Sanford & Son downtown is shopping is more your thing.
Sunday join in celebrating the opening of the new Tacoma Narrows bridge with a morning 5K run/walk then stroll across the new bridge deck and marvel from 10am - 3pm. There's no parking near the bridge to head to TCC and shuttle over. This is a once in a lifetime event! The NarrowsBridgeLights.org will also have an area setup with info about our efforts so drop by and say "hi"! I'll be there from 11am-noon.
And don't forget Walking With Dinosaurs at the Tacoma Dome. I hear all the "cheap" $30 tickets are gone though so if you don't already have 'em you may end up paying 120 bucks a pop.
Anything else going on? Comment about it below or toss it up over on the FeedTacoma calendar. Enjoy!

Corina set to re-open Monday 7/16
After being closed for a remodel your favorite confectionery and mine Corina Cake Bakery will re-open Monday, July 16th. Prep your sweet tooth and stop by to see their spiffed up space. A quick drive-by show a more complete decor. Folks over in a forum over at Exit133 also say that they'll also now have a couch, wifi, and an espresso machine. Now that the newspaper is off the windows has anyone peeked in or snapped any shots they can send for all to see?
Glad to see a great local business successful enough to afford such a remodel. Here's to many more!

Funds setup for family of Zina Linnik
My heart goes out to the family of Zina Linnik and to everyone in Tacoma who worked so hard to try and find her. Two local banks now have funds setup to help her family. First, the Lights & Sirens blog mentioned that Key Bank is accepting donations at any of their branches. TAPCO Credit Union also has a fund setup that you can contribute to in-person or even online.
Let's show the world how Tacoma comes together when tragedy strikes one of our own.
