Caught a Bit of the Funk

After a bit of work on a chilly Saturday I rolled around the corner from the office to pay my first visit to Funkoma Vintage. Owner Tressie greeted me and, before I knew it, I was sucked in. Between drifting in and out of conversations her and her friend Julie were having I poked around the place. There's a wide mix of vintage/old skool/classic trinkets, wares, and clothes that nearly overwhelms the senses. A couple amazing record players caught my eye as did a couple racks of records. Were I an audiophile some of those Miles Davis or Brubeck albums would've been snatched right up. My wife will be proud that I held back from buying a great looking old TI-30 calculator to add to my collection of hand-held computing devices. Though, now that I think of it, I'll probably head back and get it. :) There are some great printed T's that have all brand of random logos and designs on them that would be perfect for a brooding teen along with plenty of other clothes for men and women.  There was a really comfy silk night gown in the back that Sarah would probably love. Some of the jewelery caught my eye especially a couple pins that could look really nice on my lady as well. Though I didn't get to try out the cozy, pink dressing room I did spy a long, green trench coat with a zip-in liner that I bought. It's proven warm and a worthy purchase the last couple days

The shop has plenty to see given its size and you can definitely have some good conversation with Tressie and end up hanging there for an hour-and-a-half easy like I did.

Open Friday, Saturday, and Third Thurs. Noon-7pm

A trip and purchase like this makes me want to shop like this to give my wardrobe a bit of a refresh come Spring (I know Sarah, please contain your excitement). So where should a Tacoma guy go local to do so. I submit myself to your suggestions. Thanks!

yah for vintage! So glad there is more available and the records and players are a great idea! Very popular with the hipsters at the moment. My 18 year old's fav is Stevie Nicks. Everything old is new again! (and you have to be pretty old to know that cliche... ;) )
