As a part of the Go Local Shore Leave for Tall Ships last night Tollefson Plaza received some activity in the form of pirates, a DJ spinning beats, and some wonderful open source chalk art. I highly recommend stopping by today or this weekend to see the creations that bring some colorful life to this otherwise barren landscape.

Last time around I missed the procession of the tall ships into town and wasn't about to let that happen this time around. I caught this year's Parade of Sail along side members of the Ferguson clan at a great, grassy spot along the Ruston Way waterfront. We spent a good part of the morning and afternoon along with thousands of others lining the shore ooo'ing and awing over one magnificent ship after another. Cannons from shore and on the water blasted throughout the precession and after, while we waited for traffic to subside, we were even treated to a few rockin' F-16 flyovers in prep for today's Freedom Fair air show.
