Photos ~ Lakewood Police Officer Memorial Processional

On a frigid day I joined others at the corner of South Tacoma Way and Pacific Ave. to watch as a massive procession of police, fire, and other service vehicles passed by toward the Tacoma Dome. They drove in from places like Modesto and the Bay Area in California, Teton and Latah County Idaho, Kalispell and Boseman, Montana, from Bend, Tillamook, Grants Pass, Ashland, and Brookings, Oregon, Park County, Wyoming, Taylorsville, Utah, the Monominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and closer to home from my home area of Portland, Oregon and La Center, Washington to honor four slain Lakewood Police officers.

The procession of thousands of vehicles carrying thousands from all over the country was simply stunning. I stood outside for three hours somewhat ill-prepared for the days temperature but stood nearly fixed in place as I watched it all go by.

Thanks to everyone for showing their support whether in a vehicle or watching from the sidewalk and, most importantly, thanks to all the men and women who dedicate their very lives to serve and protect ours everyday.
