72-Hour Film Competition screening May 25
Want to see what creative juices can produce in a 72-hour period? Then head out Thursday night downtown Tacoma to the Rialto to see the short films entered into the competition. Although the event itself isn't 72 hours (thank goodness) the films being screened were completely put together in that amount of time. Each film is under 5 minutes long and, according to the Grand Cinema's website, are required to "include the line of dialog 'Well, you know what they say,' include a Tacoma park, include someone getting splashed, and include either binoculars, a telescope, or a magnifying glass."
We'll see how the forced inclusion of those items effects the films. A co-worker of mine said it made for some slightly awkward films last year and hopes it will be different this time around. If our pair of free tickets comes through we'll be there and, if you want to go, admission is only $10. Everything kicks off at 7pm but don't take the Link over since it stops running at 8pm.
