AOL member retention goatse graphic
Yeah, goatse parodies are big out there on teh Internets. Even seems that companies like AOL are getting into the act. In a member retention manual posted on Consumerist the last page has the following graphic:

Yeah, that's some serious goatse action, there. Thank you AOL for cluing us into your true intentions. "Sign up for AOL and take it right up the a$$!" The rest of the manual is pretty disturbing, too. With questions like "How did the Consultant use background noise to build rapport?" So, what -- pointless paper shuffling or loud keyboard typing is suppose to make the member feel that the Consultant is hard at work for us? Man. What an age we live in.

Ok, perhaps it's just me, since I can't see the Goatse site at work, (It's blocked for Adult Content), but why are all of the hands upside down and reversed? Is this meant to symbolize everyone of the people behind those fists standing on their heads? I just don't get it.

As the post on BoingBoing (http://www.boingboing.net/2006/07/21/goatses_in_the_media.html) points out, this is probably doctored after the fact. Nevertheless, it's pretty funny.

G: I'm afraid I can't claim that one as it came with a PDF of that AOL guide. Guess someone had some fun with the hands at AOL's expense. And how! Pretty funny stuff nonetheless.

Hi, this is Ben Popken, editor of The Consumerist. Yup, we certainly doctored that manual cover!
We originally made and posted a piece of the image on July 14th here:
http://www.consumerist.com/consumer/top/aol-employees-slander-vincent-ferrari-on-company-time-187524.php
And then subsequently added it to our upload of the AOL retention manual
http://www.consumerist.com/consumer/exclusive/aol-retention-manual-uploaded-in-full-188310.php
for cheap kicks.
Someone later referred to our version as a "fractal goatse."

Ben: That absolutely cracks me up. Sorry I didn't look into this further before posting but, at first, I had a hard time believe it to be a farse. Had I know about the goatse stickers it would've been a dead giveaway.
"fractal goase" is a perfect title. Thanks for the info!
