Video ~ Bagpipers practice in our neighborhood

It's not often 'round these parts one hears the sound of bagpipes blowing around in the wind. As Sarah and I sat watching some TV last night, we heard just that. Actually, we didn't know what it was a first that easily could've been in our heads during muted commercials. I stepped outside and confirmed the sound and the direction it was coming from. With that, we decided to set out and find them. Turns out we didn't have to go far as they were practicing (likely for this weekend's Highland Games in Enumclaw) in a church parking lot just three blocks away! They were pretty good, too. See for yourself:

This sort of thing should happen more often in neighborhoods because it pulled people out of their homes and off their jogging routes just to listen. I guess we just have to enjoy it when we can.

So that's what's going on. I'm just a block or so away and I have heard them fairly regularly over the past few weeks.

You should walk over and listen. They're pretty tight. A good physical ad for the Highland Games, too.

Fantastic! There is nothing better than the sound of bagpipes. Hope it inspires people to go out to the Highland Games, as I'm sure they will be a treat. We have a bagpiper that practices on the ROOF across the street from us, and I never tire of hearing it!

Oh! I'm jealous. I'd absolutely love that. I actually have a hurdy gurdy album playing now that's oddly bagpipe-esque. The pipes are truly a beautiful thing and they really stick in my head, too. One of the melodies from what they were playing last night has been swirling around in my mind since then.

Great clip.

Though it starts off a little scary showing the walk up the broken cement stairs to the empty lot.

That looks like the church down on cheyenne and 36th...No wonder I haven't heard anything, thats like 8 blocks away from here.

Tuldas: It is indeed. Lovely temple and that "scary" side garden area is actually kinda' charming.

Just heading out the door, probably gonna head that way, see what there is to see.

Dunno when they'll be practicing again. I'll certainly keep my ears open tonight.

Just got back from wandering around. Gonna clear out my cards in hopes that they do go back later.
