Headline: Ben Dobyns now a married man
After purchasing our gift and card this morning Sarah and I got spiffied up and headed due east from our house toward the Puget Sound for the wedding of Ben Dobyns and his fiance Norita. It was an outdoor affair at the Titlow Lodge. They setup the ceremony under a massive oak tree that provided a beautiful canopy under which we all kept from being burned in the mid-Summer sunshine. There ceremony was a refreshing blend of traditional and non. I really enjoyed a portion where the officient invited anyone to stand up and tell a story or offer praise to the lucky couple and, without running too long, some folks did just that. Although a roaring passenger train happened by during each of the bride and groom's vows their character allowed them to laugh it off.
As with pretty much any wedding they tend to double as micro reunions for friends and former classmates. We enjoyed seeing Aaron and Robyn, BrookHunter and Christa, Matt Agee and Jenny, Justin and others. After the ceremony and reception activities Aaron, Robyn, Justin, Sarah and I went to our post-reunion/wedding hang out From the Bayou over by PLU to enjoy massive quantities of spicy food and catch-up conversation. From this we happened to add Bad Santa to our movie list and, since it's Saturday night, actually crossed it off that very same list this very same night.
Bad Santa is, aside from the masterful camera operation that went into it, bad. I mean tasteless, crude, disgusting, offensive, and funny. Although I didn't revel in the hilarity and creativity of this movie like I did with the offense put out by the South Park movie, it was a good one to see since few major flicks are made to be so bad. And now, since Robyn's dad served as camera operator on this particular film, she can let us in on the scene that was so bad they couldn't even put it in the unrated DVD version we just watched. Robyn, take it from here...
