Birthday x 2
This morning I woke up with the cumulation of a prior 365 days tacked onto my being. Today is my birthday and I'm now (as opposed to yesterday) 24. Since my time began here on Earth I've managed to keep myself running for nearly a quarter of a century and have enjoyed a great deal of it. Today went along well with that tradition because I had a great birthday.
It started off somewhat early ('roud about 8am) with my waking up to the faint voice of the announcer from the Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo. My buddy Matt Turner spent the night before playing games with Gavin and I crashed on our highly useful futon/couch. It was his game playing which jostled me out of bed and prompted me to join in his fun. Soon thereafter everyone in the house awoke. Holly and Gavin threw me a birthday breakfast and presented me with a three-stack of chocolate chip pancakes punctured with three, sparking candles. I huffed and puffed and licked my fingers and squelched most of the trick candles before we all sat down to enjoy our breakfast together. I then opened a generous pile of gifts from my parents and Sarah.
With a great morning passed, Sarah and I drove down to La Center to have a birthday dinner with my parents and to recover the repaired likeness of Sarah's 1991 Pontiac Grand Am (email Sarah to inquire about purchasing this gem). It had thrown-up some interesting troubles the weekend before and my brother was nice enough to slap a few new parts in it for her before deciding to sink a pile of money into a commercial mechanic. Our steak dinner was wonderful and was the only time in recent memory that I've actually been home to celebrate my birthday. With that, Sarah and I sprinkled a little holy water on her car and we drove back up the highway with no troubles at all.
That night when Gavin returned from work I opened his generous gifts (there seemed to be a "spicy" theme to my birthday this year) and watched my newly unwrapped copy of Monsters, Inc.
Thanks for a truly great day!
