The browser, on fire
Just downloaded the latest release of the Mozilla project standalone web browser Firefox and I must say I'm impressed. At first I didn't prefer the new theme since I'd become so used to the Qute one but it's now working for me. Perhaps a little polish will do the trick to have me totally convinced.
One thing I swear has changed from version 0.8 to 0.9 is the speed this puppy renders pages. The latest release seems to pop even compared to how instantly some pages seemed to render in older versions. I used to be an Opera fan before the Firebird/Firefox versions started cranking and could, until today, contend that Opera still seemed to have a speed/rendering advantage. With this latest Firefox version, however, that battle seems to be over and the little red-orange fox has eaten the fat lady -- not to mention the big "e".
My favorite mouse gesture extension radial context doesn't appear to be up to snuff just yet but that's what one gets when ride the bleeding edge of this software technology. Nice work Mozilla Firefox team. Keep it up.
Also, you can have a look at some browser stats to see just how much momentum Mozilla and Firefox are gaining on the big "e":
- W3 Schools
- TheCounter.com
And, while you're at it, why not
