Changing the world through lunch in Tacoma?

A new website on the scene created by Brian Dorsey from Seattle aims to break folks out of the comfort zones and meet new people. The site is called Noonhat and is a fun concept. You go there, enter your email address, choose a date, then zero the map in on an area you'd be willing to meet somebody. After you click the "Have Lunch" button Noonhat will send you and two or more other people (more than a one-on-one for safety, I presume) an email on the morning you chose so you can figure out where to meet.

KFnet tipster Andrew Becherer notes:

I’ve been on two Noonhat lunches in the launch site of Seattle. Because of Brian’s connections to the tech community in Seattle my matches have been other software developers. The first luncheon did not go very well, bad chemistry is a nice way of putting it. My second Noonhat was awesome. I’ve settled on a Noonhat every other Tuesday schedule.

One out of two ain't half bad! Though being a blogger here in Tacoma puts me out there meeting people I probably wouldn't normally I love this concept. It's all so very easy to sit static in our norms and this exceedingly simple site may just be enough to disarm a lot of people to opening their eyes to different boundaries and new perspectives.

Also over at KING 5 and the Seattle PI's Big Blog (thanks again Andrew!)

I would totally do this. Scratch that. I will totally do this. I commit to doing this at least once in the next couple of months.
