D Street closure coming soon
If you commonly cut over to Dock St. from Tacoma's Dome District via D Street you'll soon have to find a different route. D Steet will closed for construction starting sometime this July. From the City of Tacoma's website:
East D Street will officially close from Puyallup Avenue to Dock Street in July. We’ll post an exact date as soon as we have the information.
Additionally, Burlington Northern Santa Fe has informed us that A Street will close in July for approximately two weeks so they can prepare the intersection for new track. We will post the closing dates when that timeline is fixed.
So, yeah, messy is the word. It's all going toward putting an overpass on D Street so cars will no longer have to stop for trains.
