Downtown Tacoma Capers sneak peek

KFnet friend Erik B. sent over a few cellphone pics of upcoming downtown "take home" restaurant Capers. Looks like a clean and simple place (with stunning high ceilings!) and the same goes for their menus -- some of which change weekly. They might want to update their website though since the menu items from February are still listed and I'm sure we'd all like to know an opening date.

I like the idea of places you can grab a quick bite while avoiding the length of a sit-down experience and the crappy quality of fast food. Really reminds me of the deli's in New York City that I've relied on heavily the couple times I visited.

Here are the pics:

Thanks Erik!

Welcome Capers to downtown!

Right near my office, Capers is located at 701 Pacific Avenue and should be open in a couple of weeks.

The location is great, right next to Maconis and just a few storefronts from Matador.

Not only does it have a great frontage to Pacific Avenue, but the building is adjacent to Firemans Park.

Capers plans on having tables on the sidewalks adjacent to the Fireman's park which would be nice.

The Capers in Proctor is pretty incredible and beats out even Metropolitan Market deli which is saying quite alot. They actually do real cooking there. In Proctor, they have take out food which is refrigerated.

At this location, they plan to have a cafe.

With the opening of Capers, this block of the Theater District (on the south side) of the street will have 100 percent occupancy. One of the very few places downtown which can be observed to be operating as designed.

Now if we could only get more empty spaces filled with buildings and have more of the existing buildings renovated. One step at a time.

I had a wonderful dinner at Capers Downtown last week. The carbonara was perfect! Try the Marietta Old Vine Red with your dinner. A wonderful place to meet friends and enjoy an evening with people you love to be with! Great job, Eve and team. You have become a weekly staple for this urban dweller! Scott
