Like falling in love (kinda')

If love were to cost $400, what would it be? It would be a Nikon 995 digital camera! My buddy Matt recently graduated from Washington State University and was offered some form of gift from his father. The choice of the gift is Matt's and can be nearly anything (within reason) except computer stuff. His choice is kind of computer-based but goes well beyond that. His choice is a digital camera. He choice, more particularly, is the Nikon 995. Now, Gavin and I have owned digital cameras from more than a few years and have been enamored with the 995 since its creation more than a year ago. It was then far too expensive an item for either of us to consider because its price hovered around the $1,000 dollar mark for quite some time... Until now!

Fade in to June 1, 2002. The price: $400. The camera: Nikon 995. I believe Nikon will soon be discontinuing this camera to make way for new models. In the meantime the price is now within the realm mere mortals can afford. Better yet, I'm borrowing one for the weekend from the PLU campus photographer Chris Tumbusch. This camera is more than I expected. It's hard to describe what it does so stay tuned and I'll have a couple examples here for your viewing pleasure. In other news... Tomorrow is project day. Sarah and I are going to attempt to buy supplies at the hardware store for the jukebox project, a new kitty perch, we're going to wash our cars, and want to get my bike tire fixed. We'll probably extend tomorrow's projects into Sunday but the weather is beautiful and we've got nothin' but time.
