FeedTacoma.com launches community supported and focused website
Today I'd like to announce the launch of the community supported and focused FeedTacoma.com. Along with a group of local blog contributors we've created a place to showcase local, independent voices on the web. We'll write about anything from a new small business opening, a neighborhood event, or a tasty restaurant to discussions about hot-button issues and city-wide public participation. Over the last few months we've been testing and tweaking to get just the right mix of content flowing into the site from our various blogs and are at a point now to let people at it.
This is the first step in what we hope to be an even more inclusive and rich local web experience with new ideas and features around the corner. So check out FeedTacoma.com and let us know what you think. Oh, and if you want to be a contributor but don't have a website or aren't sure how to set one up, email info@feedtacoma.com and we'll help guide you through the process.

Kevin-
I've been visiting feedtacoma for a few weeks... if not a couple of months now. It's a fantastic idea and it's really useful for being in the know about all of the stuff that's happening around town. Some suggestions?
1) Make the page RSS compatible
2) Advertise the site, word of mouth is not enough. Web advertising on the Tribune's website, advertising on beautiful angle posters, the possibilities for advertising are limitless
3) If I'm not mistaken many of the contributors to feedtacoma are from the North End or Downtown or Stadium. More contributors are needed to represent events happenings taking place over the rest of the city.
4) Authors could do a little better job of spreading the news stories and topics around... to have a kind of blog-focus on a topic... or not.
Those are my ideas.

Chris: Thanks for the feedback!
1) The will probably be without an RSS feed for now until original content is created and stored on FeedTacoma.
2) We don't have any kind of budget for ads but I'll look into it.
3) It is very North-heavy -- we'll be adding some content from the Weekly Volcano's Spew blog but would certainly love getting more South Enders in there.
4) That's kinda' up to the authors. We're pulling in specific categories from each site to help spread the content types around a bit. As the site grows we'll probably have other ways to allow folks to navigate/filter content.
Thanks again!

For the south-end, it'd be great if we could get one/some of the PLU staff/students to start up a blog on happenings in their part of town. Anyone interested?

I have been using this site for a few months. Didn't know it was under wraps. I was curious as to who was behind it though.
