I am a new job having

Today marks a new start for me in the employment arena. Since Sarah hit the Y this morning to workout I opted for a later bus into town. After circling the block where my new employer, SiteCrafting, and dogdging some rather dodgy folks hanging around Fireman's Park I got setup at my desk with a shiny new iMac and plenty to learn. Also had my first meeting this morning wherein my co-workers gave me the 411 on all the projects going on and a bit about the company's culture itself. I spent most of the day getting settled and doing a little research. I also had a chance to exercise my new right to have lunch with the wife and walked through most of downtown to have some pizza with her. Although a bit toasty in the office I survived the day and am really looking forward to tackling some projects.

So, that dodgy group in the park apparently had some kind of incident that warranted a paramedic and fire truck stop by. This afternoon when heading up the hill to catch the Link train some police action briefly prevented the train from reaching our station since some police cruisers were perched on top of the necessary tracks. Once I picked up Sarah tonight after a night out sippin' martinis with the girls and just as I was reading about a strong earthquake in Japan we heard a loud crashing/cracking/crumpling sound from outside and saw a white truck speed part way down the block. Neighbors gathered to inspect the commotion and found our nearby roundabout completely clobbered. A nice tree and the street sign were completely severed and a cover from the back of the culprit's truck was sitting near our neighbor's lawn. One neighbor and I did some investigating and found the truck in a nearby alley while we all noticed the rather drunk and slightly injured driver wandering the blocks. The police were summoned and all is well.

Anyway, an exciting day here. Time for photos!

Glad to hear everything went as well as could be expected (sans train issues and signage destruction).

Additionally, how should I get a hold of you via email these days? Could you email me with an appropriate address? Thanks, you monger you!

Interesting first day. Watch out for those trains and trucks with drunk drivers. I was wondering when somebody was going to mow the roundabout. Have fun. You know all you are going to hear at lunch with Sarah is shop talk. Have fun in your new crib.

Good for you! I am also wondering how to get in touch with you via the email. Since you're not at PLU any longer, and not my boss...

Thanks everyone for the encourgement! I think I'm going to settle well into the new job. You can feel free to reach me at kevin --at-- kevinfreitas --dot-- net anytime -- but not now. ;) My server is acting a bit wonky in the email department and I may have to do a little death and resurrection on it (a.k.a. rebuild the box) before it's working again. Sigh. I'll let you know.
