Dock St. work begins, free parking goes
Dock street is about to get a bit messier as widening and a bit of a makeover begin. Oh, and don't forget that all that free on-street parking between 11th and 15th Streets is going away. From the City of Tacoma website:
The work consists of grading, pavement removal, permanent asphalt concrete pavement roadway construction, cement concrete curb and gutter installation, cement concrete driveway and sidewalk construction, storm, sanitary sewer and water main installations, streetlight installation, landscaping, utility trench conduits and vault installations.
Sounds like worthy improvements but you notice no mention of further free day parking of any kind being added or replaced -- only limited 2 hour parking. Guess it's either pay at one of the lots on Dock Street or park at the already filled-to-the-brim dome lot, catch a link, and hoof it down the hill.

This is rather timely as well considering [ via Exit133 ] an open forum concerning parking is taking place in the Pantages lobby tonight at 6:30pm.

Hopefully, they will not lose too many parking spaces overall.

The BIA Blog article I link to above says there's 100 spots there that will be lost -- putting in some 2 hour spots isn't exactly equivalent to replacing non-metered, park as you will spots. Time to start adding more levels to the Tacoma Dome lots?
