(Can I tell them now?) We're getting married!
Today's Thanksgiving was a special one for us since Sarah and I decided to hijack this special holiday in hopes of making it even more special. We told our parents that we're getting married! There's more to the story than just this announcement so I encourage you to visit our website at www.sarahandkevin.info for the entire (and official) scoop.
I'll tell today's story here and Sarah may also decide to do so on her site. After a fairly smooth drive to the Vancouver area this morning we arrived to the fine-smelling home of Sarah's mom and sister. Mandy was there and the three of us figited around for a couple hours while waiting to tell Sarah's family over dinner. I actually had her engagement ring in my pocket and she had their invitation in her purse the entire time.
Just as Sherry finished preparation for a wonderful meal based on turkey and ham (and so much other good stuff) we all sat down and I slipped the shiny to her under the table. From there, she let them in on it and, after a few tears and "cheers!" we enjoyed the rest of our afternoon as an engaged couple...
...at least in Sarah's mom's house. Now onto my parents. Our family decided to celebrate Thanksgiving on Saturday so my mom could enjoy a less stressful time preparing food for us all. We planned to head up to La Center early this evening to let them in on our little secret. During a phone call wherein my mom claimed they were bored, I reassured her that Sarah and I were on our way and that we'd entertain them. Once there we sat down during their dinner and I made good on my entertainment promise, flashed Sarah's hand with ring attached, and told them we were engaged. My mom shreaked and there was another round of toasts and more champagn. Whew! What a day.
Everyone took this well and was genuinely excited for us. Since we've done all the leg work preparing nearly everything for the wedding it's only a relief to let those we love in on the love we share for one another.
Tomorrow, we begin telling our friends...

Doh! Sarah caught this and I neglected to fix it up. I don't mind misspellign normal words but proper nouns can't be neglected. Sorry "Sherry" or whoever you are...! ;)
