How To Be A Good Tacoman ~ Schuster Sidewalk Cleaner
Last weekend while jetting from my house around town running a few errands, I noticed something strange along Schuster Parkway. There was a man on the sidewalk with his bike parked nearby raking. Yes, raking. From the canopy of trees on the bluff overhead to the ivy lining the sidewalk itself it can get a bit claustrophobic to walk or ride along that waterfront path. With no access for parking unless you're a utility vehicle with those flashy yellow lights you can see why this guy deserves some kudos. Not only is his heart in the right place but he had to take a little effort to make it happen, too.
It really warmed my heart knowing he was helping take care of something many of us utilize without regard for how its condition is maintained. Hat's off to you, mysterious Schuster sidewalk cleaner!
Try It Yourself
- Grab a rake or two
- Hop on your bike or into your car
- Clean up a sidewalk or path that could use a little TLC
- Take your camera along and send in pics of you and your friends or family doing this deed and I'll post 'em along side this entry to help further inspire folks
- Suggest a spot or feel free to coordinate with others using the comments below
"How To Be A Good Tacoman" is a new monthly feature here at KFnet that highlights some great local deed doers with real solutions for how you can chip in. Nominate someone to be a "Good Tacoman" by emailing their name and what they've done tall or small to help make Tacoma a great place.
