Google music search

As Google keeps [often quietly] expanding its offerings. You can now search for music information by typing music: followed by a band, artist, song or album title. Once you click through a result you're presented with listings of tracks, links to reviews, and places to buy the music. I tried a search for Ben Folds and got info on his solo albums as well as his stuff with Ben Folds Five. Once you click on an album the tracks are linked up and have jumps to lyrics but not, unfortunately, sound clips.

This is a great way to learn about the music you like without having to plow through ads and "recommended listening" much like you'll find on Amazon. There's certainly a value in just information itself as well as the cash value of money itself. I'm just please Google still seems to be able to find a balance between the two.

While you're at it, have you ever tried doing a Google movie search? Type movie: then the title of a movie or even your local zip code for movie showing times. Pretty neat, huh?
