Photos ~ House demolition on 27th and Pacific
The old house standing in the parking lot of Superior Saw at 27th and Pacific is no more. A huge claw tore it apart this morning. The area is zoned commercial so maybe something interesting could be coming to the spot. Hopefully real estate even in this part of town is worth enough to do more than use it for parking. I'm sure everyone here in my office (across the street) will be rooting for something food- and/or drink-related. We certainly enjoyed a brief break while watching part of the demo. Windows popping, heavy machinery, the smell of scrap lumber in the air -- we're easily entertained.
Hopefully the rose bushes on-site will be re-purposed. If not, a late night botanical heist may be in order. ;)

Looks like one less blighted house.
It would be nice to see a mixed use building with some retail on the first floor and housing above. One can dream.

I have a feeling nothing will move forward until after all the Sounder to Lakewood stuff shakes out since 27th there is a proposed re-route/outlet for South Tacoma Way.

Great photos, Kevin! Glad you were there to catch the action.

The lot is owned by the same people who own the building next door. Doesn't look like they really have parking there so it may become a parking lot. Now if the building next door (American Saw?) is vacated then we might see some action.
There was a mixed use project that never got off the ground one block up Pac Ave. They even went to the city a few years back to have them vacate some right or ways but haven't heard anything sense.

Too bad all that material ended up in the dump. What a waste! I'm sure someone could have used those columns and old windows.

FYI
From TPD Sector 1 May 2007 Report:
• 2700 Pacific Avenue – Drug activity and code violations. A code inspection on May 23 resulted in the building being boarded up.

Thanks Jake. Guess that was the proverbial straw for this place. Though it's now just dirt/parking it opened up the corner a bit. It's now easier to see up Delin a bit toward the lush green trees that line it.
