Infinite Soups little but packs tasty punch
Getting a meal in liquid form always seemed kinda' strange to me. Early this week a few of us from work decided to do just that for lunch at Infinite Soups [ map ]. We parked across the street, passed their sandwich board, and went in. The place itself is just large enough to walk in and doddle only just enough to try and sample or two then get and pay for your order. A free standing record player dutifully played one of any of the numerous records on display nearby and wonderful smells filled the air.
Their menu is large but they rotate daily through about 20 soups. I ended up getting their West African Peanut, a puffy bread roll and a couple baggies of crackers. The pace of Infinite Soups is brisk since everything is ready made and piping hot. This is fast food of the best kind. Good thing too because with the alloted space it got crowded in there pretty quick with other folks streaming in to grab lunch.
I can't vouch for the other three ladies from my office (though perhaps they'd care to chime in below?) but I can say that West African Peanut was great! It was creamy but not too thick with tasty veggies and a slight but persistent spiciness that made me want more. Which, especially given the soup-friendly time of year here in the Pacific Northwest, makes perfect sense. One hopes that in the summer, though business for Infinite Soups surely slows down, they'll branch out and try some cool gazpacho during those warmer months. Those days are far away for now and with so many choices on their menu and nearly no way to have more than one at once, we'll certainly be back.
And now, soup cam:

I had the pork and bean soup, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Hearty ingredients, and not chalked full of a lot of odd herbs/spices or anything. Wonderful comfort food. Next time I'm trying that West African peanut soup, as the sample I had was delicious!

I'm desperately jealous! As the weather has turned cooler my thoughts have begun to drift toward warm, hearty, flavorful soups and put Infinity Soups on my mind. I've been meaning to suggest a trip there and you beat me to it! Any idea on the days/hours? Website didn't provide the info - not that I could find anyway.

Infinite Soups is great. I pick up 5 of their smallest portions to try a variety for home.
Located right on the urban edge.

Chopstick-cam... soup-cam. What's next? Bubble tea-cam? Chicken satay skewer-cam? Awsome.

I tried the Spanish Clam Chowder. Very tasty. I am a big fan of most cream based chowders and Infinite Soups surpassed Anthony's (my most recent favorite) in the clam chowder category.
I went back that evening and picked up another bowl for dinner. It was a little saltier than the lunch round but I got the last of it so perhaps it had just been stewing longer.
Overall, very impressed. In fact, I think I might just head over there for lunch again today.

Dude, if you ever subject me to soup-cam in reverse again (Monday night torture!) I'm going to take away your camera.
Hee.

Today's soup adventure involved Chicken & Rice. While it was tasty, I think they went WAY overboard on the pepper. There are other ways to add flavor. Not knowing how to cook, I don't know what those other ways are, but I'm sure they exist.
And I'm sure next week will be better (if I can wait that long).

I did the sausage gumbo today. It was tasty and had quite a spicy kick to it. Didn't mind tho 'cause it worked well with the flavor and I was happy to clear out my sinuses a bit.

I did the Roasted Red Pepper and Chicken Tortellini soup on Tuesday. LOVED it. I'm a fan for creamy soups, and this one was delicious without being too thick or having too much of one dominant flavor.

Hey, soup guy, how about those compost bin directions you promised quite awhile ago? How about less talk and more directions (in other words, you come up high on the google list for some reason, so give us more than pics of five pallets). Thanks!

Today: Garlic Beef.
Very garlic-y. I bit into what I thought was a bean and it turned out to be an entire clove of garlic. Ouch. One thing that's a little disappointing is that by the time I got there at 12:45, there were already soups that were all gone. I've been there in the evenings hoping to score some soup for dinner and have been faced with a list of 4 soups, down from the original 20 or so. I expect that an hour before they close but not an hour and a half after they open. I really wanted to try that sesame mushroom.

Oh yea, did the roasted red pepper and tortellini yesterday. DANG is that good stuff.

Today: Mushroom Marsala
Holy bisque, that's good! Similar to the Guiness Mushroom but without the beer-bite at the end. And more mushrooms than you can shake a stick at (believe me, I tried).
