Photo ~ Jupiter from our backyard

JupiterLook to the south on these clear Summer evenings and that bright star you see out there is Jupiter. We yanked out our telescope last night to take a look. Though it's been a while since it's see the light of night we had a couple friends over to view the planet. Our alley neighbors even joined in as well! It was a pretty decent night to look up. We could clearly see four of Jupiter's moons lined up two on either side of the giant planet. Jupiter itself was a bit hazy looking but we could make out a couple differing colors of bands of clouds.

I snagged this image peeping through the eyepiece though I have better ones in my Astronomy section. Stay tuned 'cause if anything interesting is in the sky as summer wanes I'll try and send out a heads-up/invite to peer through our 'scope.
