Lake Hong be gone

On November 11 of last year I mentioned a little puddle that forms just outside the front door of my residence hall affectionately known as Lake Hong. Well, today they did something about it. A rather large back hoe was brought in and the dirt area over which the lake forms was dug out and filled with a truck load of rocks. Yes, rocks. I suppose they hope this will allow the water that normally ponds there to sink into this stony reservoir to help prevent the tips of our pant legs from getting wet. So, the lake may be no more and I'm afraid that sopping water feature will be missed by this Hong Hall B18 resident.

Here's my remedy for too much techno The disappearance of Lake Hong was not the biggest story of the day. Today is Valentine's Day but I'm not suffering in the least. This morning at about 8:15am my time there was a double ring from my phone that held at the other end of the line the voice of my girlfriend. Sarah was very excited to tell me that I was the "best damn boyfriend in the world". All this was prompted by her receiving my Valentine's gift/care package. Now, I must give major kudos to the US Postal Service for this one because I sent the package out from Parkland's post office last Wednesday. They told me that, by air, it could take 7 to 10 days for it to arrive. And it got there, with nothing but great timing, today. In it I put a box of her favorite cereal, two sarongs from Hawaii, and a special CD the I put together for her. All in all it was really well received and has, apparently, made some of the other girls in her hall jealous. Gosh, I'm blushing.

With good timing the theme for the day, Sarah's gift to me arrived here today. Let me just thank her here for it. It's really easy to love someone so thoughtful and caring. Thank you Sare. I cherish it.
