Links on parade
Life here is rolling right along with work and home life but I figure I'd hit this site with a blast from my spice weasel to BAM it up a notch. The following are a list of links I've acquired and enjoyed over the last couple months.
mc chris
As seen/heard in numerous episodes of Sealab 2021 mc chris is a rapper with a "youthful" voice and a tendency toward Star Wars references. He has an entire album available for download as well as other tracks, remixes, and skits.
SarahChampion.com
She's kinda' back up and running with a new Blogger-powered site. Although she only has one entry up currently I encourage anyone to head over there and bomb her with comments so she feels the love and decides to keep the site up.
Google Desktop Search
A fan since their modest beginnings as a simple search alternative to Yahoo! and Alta Vista, Google is now beta testing an interesting product that indexes and allows you to search the files on your computer light years faster than a normal Windows search. The program is a small download and doesn't send any private information Google's way but seems like a great app with a great purpose. I have nearly 40,000 digital photos and now it's easy to cruise through the folders with a single search. Although it's only in testing it could prove to change the way we get around our computers.
Albino Blacksheep
Enter the world of weird and see into the minds of guys who used to draw strange sketches in high school and make flipbook-style animations. Well, give those types Flash and this is what results. From games to stick people in rock bands to cats dancing to political commentary -- this site has it all animated.
Bleach Eating Freaks
This one is new on my radar (as of today) but has at least one worth while section wherein the held a contest to see who could create the most interesting/creative/destructive weapons out of common office supplies. Worth a look.
Photoshop Phriday (via SomethingAwful.com)
Easily one of the most creative and hilarious spots I've even encountered on the web this site has a weekly smattering of excellent works by folks far too good with image manipulation tools. These guys are the reason you can't believe anything you see in a photo anymore.
TV Torrents
With DVRs like Tivo becoming far more integrated into our lives it's becoming easier for shows to be distributed on the web. I don't own a Tivo and don't even have cable so reception is sketchy at best and, although I try and avoid too much boob tube, there are a few shows I enjoy and don't mind catching from week to week. This site has a nice selection of shows posted for download with a tool called BitTorrent (it's small and doesn't install spy- or adware) that allows you to download from others while others download for you -- it's really fast! Anyway, I don't know how long these sites will be around but poor schmoes like me can enjoy our favorites without the need for clear reception or a cable box -- heck, sometimes I can download a show here on the west coast tens of minutes before it even hits our airwaves! Now that's technology!
Well, that's it for now. From these you're sure to get a deeper glimpse into what makes me tick and I hope that you do because it's easy to live vicariously through links to things that could consume your life if only there were more hours in the day.
