69K sq ft medical complex proposed for S. 19th
The Madison Park Medical Center could soon be joining the Snake Lake neighborhood. The now green space and former junk bus lot at the end of Proctor on 19th may soon become a three building, 69K square foot medical complex. A public notice has the development taking up 5.8 acres over 8 parcels of land and will need to be re-zoned from single family dwelling to a C-1 commercial area. Though significant paving will be necessary for the 330 on-site parking capacity it looks like some restoration of some wetland and a stream will occur that area currently in bad shape.
Is such a 9-5 kind of complex a good fit for an otherwise neighborhood setting? Will the loss of all that permeable ground adversely effect the Snake Lake watershed? Will this be a better option that, say, an apartment complex going in? Will this space house only medical facilities or will other types of businesses (teriyaki, nails, tanning, etc.) be able to find an in?
There's a public hearing on the notice November 8 at 1:30pm, you email Karie Hayashi with the City, or feel free to let it all out in the comments below.

Nice to have some investment in the city.
However, it is lttle more than a box in a large parking lot.

Good god - the parking. Can't we bring the building closer to the lot line? The setback is atrocious.
