Margaret's makes a mean breakfast quiche
At the behest of tacomachickadee and Tacoma Mama, Sarah, friends Angela, Steve and I stopped by Margaret's [ map ] downtown before work on Monday. Though 7am seemed pretty early it was well worth getting out of the house for. The place isn't exactly a hole in the wall 'cause there's plenty of room for a comfortable, casual, sit down meal. The signage, however, helps Margaret's blend in with its surroundings enough that if you didn't know you were looking for it you likely wouldn't find it.
Inside Sarah and I both noticed that the aroma of the place reminded us both of Europe and/or New York. Can't quite pinpoint it but it's definitely a good thing. Margaret herself took our orders and was pretty up-front with her thoughts about the food she puts out. I like confidence. And she was right. She brought out three quiches and some Irish oatmeal for Sarah and we all fell nearly silent and enjoyed. Angela and Steve had the bacon and cheese and ham quiches respectively and, correct me if I'm wrong guys, really enjoyed them. Sarah's oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar reminded her of tastes she enjoyed while studying for a semester in England. I had a sun-dried tomato with artichoke quiche and was really impressed. I don't believe I've really been exposed to may quiches save for the little ones that come in large, thick plastic bags in the freezer case from Costco. Thankfully, my aversion to non-sweet things that come in pie crusts was slightly reversed with a little help from Margaret.
So the cupcakes don't come out 'til later in the morning but we'll certainly swing by sometime because, again with the modesty ;), she says they're the best. The breakfast really sat well and didn't fill me up too much but was hearty enough to keep me going all morning. Thanks for being there Margaret and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

I LOVE Margaret's for lunch too! And she is a wonderful caterer - she did our wedding!

Glad you made it over there! Can't wait until you get to taste her cupcakes ... (or brownies or many other homemade goodies ...) Thursdays are the ever-over-popular Fiesta salad ... but I'm still partial to the Tuesday cobb salad ... with a homemade super-yummy roll. And the occasional cupcake. :) Margaret is fabulous.
