Married in one month

Next month on the 15th Sarah and I will be getting married out at Skamania Lodge. Although we're feeling pretty good about most aspects of the wedding and honeymoon, there's still a bit to do. This weekend we're driving down to the Portland area for a holiday dinner with my mom's company, meetings with vendors, and our couples shower. It'll be a busy one but we should be able to whiddle down the list of to-dos even further.

One month away... Oy! I better write me some vows!

I'm a wedding expert! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Did you know that I got hitched?

I did but when did it happen? Where'd you go for the honeymoon? How much music was there? ;) What kind of advice could you pass on?

I got married in August 2003, so almost a year and a half ago. We got married outside the Marshall House on Officer's Row and then had the reception in and ouside of the house. For ceremony music we had Bekah Oakley play classical guitar and then Sean Bendickson also accompanied Bekah while she sang Eva Cassidy's "Fields of Gold." The reception music was provided by all of my dad's friends: Tom Grant, Dave Captein, Bill Beach, Bill Ramsey and then every just sat in. It was a big jam session : ) I even sang Brandon a song. We went to Kauai for our honeymoon. Costa Rica sounds amazing, I know you'll have the best time. Advice...just have fun. It's one of the only times in you entire life when everyone you know and love is in the same room just to show you and Sarah how much you are loved and cherished. It's truly an amazing experience. Try to have all of the organization pieces in place no later than a week before the wedding. That way you can just enjoy yourselves. If things start to go wrong just remember what my mom Marcia always says, "If there's enough food, everything takes care of itself." Please email me if you have any specific questions. I'll help you out as much as I can.

Man, do we have food. We've been raving about it to our guests and making certain they come to the wedding hungry.

We're doing pretty good with prep. We're meeting to finalize things with a few vendors this weekend and Sarah's getting her hair done. We still need to finalize music with our vocalist/family friend (Pamela Jordan, http://www.pamelajordanmusic.com), write vows, and then just wait for it all to happen.

Thanks for the offer of help -- I'll certainly let you know if anything comes up! Oh, and while watching Life As We Know It last week they had a Romeo & Juliet scene being played out by high schoolers. I told Sarah I was Romeo to your Juliet in Ms. Medeiros' class and how she was all excited about the kissing scene. Then I told her about the Jaws music I played when we approached for the kiss (think I recruited Court to play the tape). Yeah, good times. ;)

Ha! I hadn't thought of that in years! Very funny.

Was that the time I elected to play a dead body rather than learn any lines? That woman just did not appreciate my sense of humor.

No, Ms. Medeiros didn't appreciate anyone's sense of humor! Remember when she played the Melissa Etheridge song and tried to pass it off as analogy for the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene? She was so weird.
