Micah does Seattle
Waking up rather late today, I had only two tasks to complete: one was to see the raunchy, bodily function-based movie American Pie and the other was to create a picture of a friend of mine for a website. First I saw American Pie. A rather sexually oriented movie with a comedic and somewhat truthful high school twist. As the genre of blatent sex films seems to be surfacing in the US (this movie and There's Something About Mary) they seem to push the barrier of "did they just say that?" a little more each time. With masturbation and stripping over the internet, the next movie similar to this may just have to cross the line to get any attention. Borderline is a good word to use to describe the appropriate nature of this movie. One does need to be open and relaxed about sexuality to enjoy this movie. Recent high school grads (within a couple of years or so) will especially appreciate the movie's play on different young social groups. I really enjoyed the band nerd group in this movie. It's funny 'cause it's true. All in all, it's a good movie that made me laugh and the young actor who plays Jim (Jason Biggs) in the movie has promising qualities that may aid his filmmaking career.
My other task today was to create a picture in which my good friend Micah is as large as a city. May sound a bit strange but it's a project that I've randomly worked on over the last year. The site is for the PLUposse is a site that my friends and I came up with last year while talking about forming a gaming clan. Now, clans are groups of people that get together on the internet and play team games against other clans. Often these groups take themselves too seriously and they become real jerks when it comes to lowly, normal players. The PLUposse is an idea we came up with for the worlds first anti-clan. We'd play games together but do it with two criteria: 1) constantly having good, clean fun and 2) winning lots. With Micah at the helm, we couldn't go wrong. His strategic mind can tear apart any game he comes in contact with quickly helping him master it. So, the site includes a description of each member of the team and subsequent photos of each of us. Well, to keep with the spirit of having fun and not taking ourselves too seriously, I've been coming up with images that are somewhat, how should I say, silly. It's fun and I'm really happy how the image of Micah eating the Space Needle came out.
Well, only a couple days until I take a trip with Dr. Leake, Erika, and perhaps others to see a Space Shuttle launch. My first and it's a night launch. Should be incredible!
