My cursed hat
Yeah, I did it again. I unknowingly left my rather dapper, Scottish-like hat at a restaurant. Ack! Sarah and I set out to have a relaxing night together by eating dinner at our favorite Galanga Thai in downtown Tacoma then seeing a somewhat late night showing of The Incredibles.
After the fantastic fried spring rolls, a Thai iced coffee, a plate of Pad See Iew and Phad Thai, and a couple cups of tea, we bid the owner Ted farewell and headed to the theatre. That's where I realized that the chill of this November evening had really got to my head -- and for good reason! I mistakenly left the hat at Galanga. A quick phone call later and Ted found it and reassured me it would reside safe and sound behind the front counter for whenever I could come pick it up.
Last time around, I wasn't so lucky. A few months ago I did nearly the same thing on a family outing in downtown Vancouver. Although the likeliest place I left it that time was also a restaurant, they couldn't seem to find it. Either someone realized just how dapper it was and gave it a good home or it fell out of my car between there, at the park by the Columbia River, or somewhere else entirely. Never got that one back but my mom and dad recently took me on a birthday shopping trip to the Pendleton Woolen Mills outlet in Washougal to replace it. And so it happened again. Doh! It's now officially Sarah's job to make sure if I arrive at a place with my hat that I leave with it.
Yes, and The Incredibles is the best Pixar film yet. They've really matured with their content and complexity of scene composition and characters. Aside from that, it was great to see so non-G-rated computer animation. This was no John Woo rated-R action flick but it had some minor gun and cape-related violence that was appropriate and hilarious! Yes, I loved the cape scene. Priceless. This'll definitely be one to add to the DVD collection and enjoy from time to time for years to come. Cheers to Pixar and here's to their continuing success now that they're out from under the Disney umbrella.
Update - The hat came back the very next day (2004-11-20 @ 5:49pm)
Picked it up around 5pm tonight. Need to put LoJack on that bad boy!
