New bike lanes coming to N. 26th Street?
When riding around town one certainly sees things differently -- like what's not a hill in your car certainly is when operating under pedal power. Another is anything that will enhance the biking experience and safety in a town. Yesterday, while biking to and from Art on the Ave, Sarah and I noticed some ticks painted along the side of N. 26th Street that matched the spacing and width of other bike lanes in the area. I took a quick detour this morning to investigate any other markings further down 26th and didn't find any.
The marks we saw were in both directions on N. 26th between Stevens and Proctor. Although I didn't see any there's also ample room along the stretch of 26th from Pearl through Orchard and to Stevens. That would be a nice east-west connection from the inner part of the north end over to the road to Point Defiance. For now, however, we'll take what we can get.

what color are those? If they're white then they mean they're going to be digging there more likely than not. The city has color coded markings for just about everything.

Yeah they're white -- does anyone know what color they'd be if it were for painting lines? The width and spacing of them sure is just right for bike lanes.

don't know.. I don't think they usually mark like that before they paint except when necessary (like when no marks exist on the road at all.
There are similar markings on one of the side streets off of 6th Ave and Proctor where they're doing some sort of digging btw.

Well, I'll certainly drive by from time to time. In the interim, it really got my hopes up. Anyone else want a bike lane along 26th between Pearl and Proctor? I'm in! Anywhere else? Who do we call?
