New Old Milwaukee space [update]
Heard from a tipster that the Old Milwaukee Cafe on Sixth Ave. maybe expanding. I'm told the beauty salon next door is now going to be part of the cafe. I'm ashamed to say this is one place I've yet to visit in town but hope this is a sign they're doing well and for a good reason. Don't know if there's anything visibly in the works but feel free to send any pics if you notice anything.
Thanks!

No that part of Sixth Ave is as dead as ever.

My tipster also just told me the Old Milwaukee folks may be buying up that entire building.
Sixth Ave. certainly is a bit like swiss cheese when it comes to activity. There are some serious lulls between active areas. It'll be interesting to see how that changes over time or with the addition of something like a streetcar.

I was going to say, your tipster must've read GritCity!
Just joking around ... Clearly an honest case of double coverage. So many blogs, so few cafes expanding into the spaces vacated by barber shops.
Tacoma businesses can't even take out the trash without catching someone's eye. Keep up your good work!

Cole: No, you're probably totally right. I heard about it 3rd hand and just assumed it was new news. Didn't see your spot 'til I did my check of the local blogs later yesterday. Can't knock the linkage though! ;)

Have to admit that I was the tipster. My co-worker has been going to that salon for years. He called the other day to make an appointment, and his stylist told him to be there by 7:00am because they were ripping out all the chairs that afternoon. That was on a Saturday. On Monday I had seen he made his appointment and asked if his stylist had moved somewhere else in Tacoma? He informed me that she moved to GIG HARBOR! BOOOOOOOOOO...........That's when he told me that he believed the owners are going to buy the whole building. Anyway I hope all this info is current. By the way I love all the attention the local bloggers give this city. Are you listening City Council? Good Day.
