New to me: 2good2toss.com
A co-worker recently pointed me to a website that take a page or two from Craig's List but spins it with a local and environmental flair. The site is 2good2toss.com and it's a place for local WA residents to peddal their used wares. The basic concept is an online classified ad but the entire thing is supported by a group (gaggle? gang? herd?) of counties from this state trying to keep stuff out of our landfills. Any resident can post items and photos for free that can be priced from nothing to $100 max. Wanted ads can also be posted. Seems like you can find anything from old computers and office equipment to items for the home and garden. There's also some funny listings like "found: stuffed rabbit on hwy 512".
It's a great site with some decent treasures that, being the relative new homeowner than I am, I'll certainly be keeping an eye on.

There is another fantastic way to recycle unwanted household items. Freecycle! You can find your local group here http://www.freecycle.org/display.php?region=US%20West%20Coast. it is great fun and everything is free. You can post 'Offered' items, or if there is something that you are looking for, post a 'Wanted' item. You never know what will come up that you just can't do without.
On Freecycle Edinburgh, I have received a telescope and a home brew kit, both from the same house! The most hilarious postings have been 1) 'Offered: Pole-dancing kit' (complete with fake money to stuff in unmentionable places) and 2) Wanted: 5-bedroom house, on three acres. The response was: 'Offered: reality check for disilluisioned.' I highly recommend it!
