No Sarah, no fun
After a wonderful anniversary it's a pity that Sarah had to wake up at 3am to travel on business. The only bright spot is that she's paying a visit to her birthplace of Nashville. Unfortunately, she's there on a tight, business-related schedule and won't have a second to explore where she came from. I, on the other hand, am living it up! Actually, things around the house are pretty quiet. After work today I headed straight over to It's Greek to Me for some take-out dinner. Silly me ordered way too much food as was evident by the fact that they loaded my to-go bag with a pile of napkins and something like three or four plastic forks. Nope, the gluttonous American in me bought it all for myself. I had a beef and lamb gyro, a side caeser salad, four pieces of parmesan garlic bread, and some baklava for dessert. None of these come in small portions and somehow I plowed through eating all but three slices of the bread and the baklava.
The rest of the night was wasted through viewing a couple TV shows. Stupid American Idol caught my attention mostly because of my own singing background and lack of apathy for anyone with pitch problems. Admittedly, however, there are always some genuinely talented people that make it on the show and it can be a real thrill watching them be gradually broken down into a cookie-cutter pop star singing nothing but power ballads that tug at the heart strings of every tween in the nation. Oh, well. I guess that's entertainment.
I also watched the debut of CBS's new show Love Monkey. The citcom's single men and music industry setting make it something like a cross between High Fidelity and Sex in the City. The writing was pretty high quality and the characters were pretty likeable (even a more mature Jason Priestley). By that time it was 11pm and I seriously needed to head to bed.
Boy do I ever need Sarah around to make me straighten up and fly right -- or at least get to bed at a decent hour. Miss you, sweetie!

It doesn't appear that either of us respect a discipline of "early to bed, early to rise" when we're not around one another. I was up really late as well, and I'm certainly less than perky this morning, as a result.

Weren't you suppose to be working while staying up late? I have no excuse, but you should.

Yes, it was very work-related, but I manage to wind up staying up to ridiculous hours almost every time I stay overnight when travelling. It seems valid, but the real reason I'm up so late has more to do with the mindset that justifies making work that important so late at night.
