Lunch at Old Milwaukee Cafe

After numerous weekend morning attempts at breakfast with no luck Sarah and I were finally able to make it to Old Milwaukee Cafe [ map ] for lunch. The place is small and we're not early risers enough to beat the weekend rush. So, no breakfast for us but, after an outing with the Photo Gang, lunch was definitely in order. We sat down at a comfy booth right near the entrance and ogled the menu. I ordered up a BLT and Sarah a cheeseburger. Oh, and a strawberry shake. That bad boy came out first and in classic diner form filled a thick glass cup as well as half a metal mixing cup. The ice cream they used was fresh and tasty and there was easily enough for two people.

My BLT came out really tasty and went well with the potato chips I had on the side though, as with so far nearly every place in Tacoma, the bacon wasn't crispy enough for me. Sarah's cheeseburger patty was so large it barely fit on the bun (which is a good thing, I presume) and I didn't hear any complaints whatsoever from her side of the table.

If you're like us and can't beat the breakfast rush, enjoy an afternoon breakfast or lunch 'til 6pm now from Wednesday through Saturday (they're closed Monday and Tuesday). It was great to meet Pat and we hope to get back over there to sample from the breakfast menu.

I'm going back. I look forward to see their progress on the cooking front and want to try the various options of chicken..

I stopped by Mary's burger bistro a few months ago. We just passed by and decided to stop for a bite. Although my family don't regularly eat burgers, we were on a road trip so anything was accepted. I'm glad we did stop. We felt welcome ever since we stepped foot in that place. The staff was so very nice and the food was great.
