Tacoma Old Town Blues Fest - 7/8

After an understandably busy 4th weekend I'm looking forward to some serious vegging this weekend. The blues may draw me out, however, since so much of will be going on right down the hill. Tacoma's Old Town Blue Festival (***terrible website alert***) kicks off this Saturday at noon with a solid line up of music in five different venues all within a block of one another. There's no info about parking but you can search among local neighborhoods for on-street parking as well as along nearby Ruston Way. Otherwise, you can bus it to the festival on the 13. Another highlight is that the whole thing is a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Resource Center.

Tickets/wristbands are $20 and are available at The Spar, the Parkway Tavern, and the Tully's in Old Town and Stadium areas. I'm told to grab them ahead of time if possible as they may sell out the day of.

So, drag yourself out to enjoy some soul-bending blues and leave Sunday for vegging.

The "terrible website" for Tacoma Old Town Blues Festival has been overhauled and new information is now posted. Please update your info. You're still entitled to your opinion of the website, but you show up in searches so as the new webmaster, I hope you'll consider some new comments about this great fundraiser for Breast Cancer research. Thanks!

It certainly does look better and has better info since I posted this last July. Good work, Sonja.

I am pretty hyper-sensitive to this sort of thing since I develop web applications for a living. Believe me though, I'm not all talk. After my critique last year of Art on the Ave's website (see http://www.kevinfreitas.net/journal/2006-art-on-the-ave/) they called my bluff and asked for help. I obliged and helped them go from static pages with a pink background to something with vibrant colors with a dynamic content management system that makes it easy for them to update themselves. (see http://www.artontheave.org) />
Thanks again for your work on the Old Town Blues Fest website and I look forward to being there this year for a great event and great cause!
