Photos ~ 27th Street Station Grand Opening
The Gintz Group had their grand opening for their 27th Street Station project at the south edge of Hilltop last Saturday. Though not in the market for a new place, we stopped by to see how they did. Sarah, her mom, Angela and I arrived and bypassed the sales center and tent with drinks and treats and headed straight into a 2nd floor, 2 bedroom unit. Though it seemed like there was plenty of space for a small family or just a couple it was good to see a furnished model unit nearby filled with a little life. All the work put into this 1960s apartment complex went well and it shows. The floors were completely re-done and setup as a floating system to help minimize, though I'm sure not eliminate, neighbor noise. Most of the infrastructure is also new. The views over the Nalley Valley are good and the freeway from here is only a dull white noise that can only be heard outside. Speaking of outside, the landscaping around the units has a good amount of grass and possibly even space for gardens if the HOA allows it. Many large, older trees were kept which is great for shade, sound, and wildlife. The building itself looks far better than the older sections of this complex that have yet to be converted. I especially like the black trim that matches up well with the railing and exterior, gated fence and London Underground like signage.
Overall it seems like solid work went into these units and should make great homes for folks that want a more affordable way to get into home ownership. I was happy to see the Gintz folks opted to be there along with their construction managers to provide some real substance and insight that I fear a real estate sales team alone couldn't. Sounds like they had a good day too with a handful of units selling right then and there. There's lots more to come as they tackle one section of this large, linearly laid out complex at a time.

Nice renovations.
The trim work is far better than expected and I like the metal railing through the complex.
Here's a chance for urban dwellers to be home owners.
From what I understand, people can apply for assistance with down payment financing from the City of Tacoma as well.
4 units sold on Saturday I hear.

I approve of the carpet-free living room. Less of the stone countertops (I just don't *get* them), but in general it looks very cool.
