Photos ~ Future FUMC Site Construction Update

New FUMC building sketch

The other day I updated on the large pit where the former historic First United Methodist Church once stood. FUMC will soon have a new home on the corner 7th and Tacoma Ave in the former Bekins Moving & Storage Co. building. A newsletter from the organization points to a May 18th dedication date with some moving into the space as early as April. It also describes their excitement saying that "little kids waiting for Christmas to come have nothing on the sense of eager anticipation that is stirring among us."

Inside a two-floor space was combined into a grand area for worship while outside details of the building facade are still in tact and an awning is taking shape as well.

I used to live near this old building. It's shaping up to be a real improvement for the neighborhood. That's a great location for FUMC AND it gets rid of some blank faced walls.

Definitely is Chris. I can't wait to see it finished. The life and activity the church brings to that side of the block should be much welcomed.

An increbible urban renovation by the blogosphere's friend David Boe.

A slew of windows cut out of the concrete.

The building is on Tacoma Avenue. Pretty urban there.

...still in tact and an awning...

Glad to hear that the facade is behaving appropriately. :)

Haha, good catch. They are also, by the way, intact. ;)
