Photos ~ Native Plant Sale and Snake Lake
We have to be there by when? I know, a 9am sale of native plants beckoned yesterday and we heeded the call -- at about 10:30. A failed attempt for breakfast at Old Milwaukee started us off. We instead opted for nearby Firehouse and shared a tasty cinnamon roll and yogurt parfait. Once we hit the native plant sale at the Tacoma Nature Center I was impressed. I'd never been in that building before but it's really neat. We'll have to catch other programs there once in a while. Downstairs there were a couple room filled with plants ranging from $1 to about $12 -- most of which we knew absolutely nothing about. Thankfully there were staff and volunteers on hand to help guide our purchases. One in particular we pretty much held close the whole time we were there. We came out with a trunk full of plants that then hit the dirt in the afternoon helping spruce up our front area and hopefully providing joy for us, the environment and some local critters for years to come.
Joke I was kinda' proud of yesterday: So, at a native plant sale, I bet they have ones called "Dances with Weeds" and "Little Big Trunk". Ha ha. Heh. Uh... I'm an ass.
We also wound around a bit of Snake Lake park after the sale. Sarah had never been and she had a blast snapping shots of flowers and other scenery (including me -- which makes me wonder if I like this whole wife-with-a-camera thing). I haven't been through the whole place but will surely have to get back there soon.
