Photos ~ North End Garage Fire

A barrage of sirens followed by the smell of a nearby visible pale of smoke came from a north end fire this morning. The detatched garages of two houses were completely destroyed along with a nearby tree between 10am and noon today in the alley between the N. 42nd and 43rd Street block just off Orchard. On-lookers mentioned a firefighter was hurt but no word if anyone at that house was hurt. Orchard near the scene was closed for emergency vehicles earlier so it's best to avoid that street for the day if you can. My thoughts are with the owners and nearby neighbors as, judging by how many people were coming to see, this sort of thing is tragic no matter the magnitude of the loss.
