Pots in the Plaza
As KFnet reader Jacob and I'm sure many who've been downtown have noticed, the Plaza now has some new decorations. A handful of planter pots are now scattered through out as a good first shot at making the place more inviting. As Jake noted, the scale is certainly a bit off but it's great to see them trying. Although everything comes down to money, I envision large, circular planters with room for a tree and lower ground cover or annuals ringed with benches for folks to sit to have lunch or whatever. As the so far frigid winter passes it'll be great to see what new events and additions will be made to the Plaza.
Overall, having some plants in the Plaza is nice but the plant I want to see there is a Christmas tree. A really huge one! Anyone know who we'd need to get permission from to put up a tree of our own? We can consider it a "Happy Holidays" from the blogging community to the city.

Nice addition to the plaza. First the bus stop cover and now the pots.
I am not sure they will work out as a long term solution but the place certainly looks better with some life there.
As for a Christmas tree, its going to be lit on the 30th by the Pantages. I suppose the city is big enough for two though.

I think moving or adding a Christmas Tree to the plaza is very important.
There isn't any room for anything really in front of the Pantages. If the tree was in the Plaza we could have a meryy-go-round, santa, and all that other good stuff. I say break the tradition or add on to it!

Yea, the area around the Pantages seems a bit cramped for such a celebration of this time of year. Besides, it's always fun to see those randomly decorated trees along the side of freeways, maybe we can make that happen downtown.
Perhaps even some ornaments on the newly added potted plants would do the trick? Any takers? Should we plan a BYOO (ornaments) and spruce things up a bit?
