More rentals and a birthday
More this morning on future rental possibilities as Gavin, Sarah and I headed out for one follow-up visit and visits to a few new prospects. For full coverage, see my rental page. We paid a visit to a barn-shaped home just over a block from Point Defiance State Park. The space for lease was on the second floor and the roof's barn shape made for some weird angles inside. Once atop the steep staircase we entered the kitchen which had little room for such luxuries as a table. There was also a strange section of counter top allowing little more than a foot-and-a-half of space between it and a wall. The living/family room was decent with double-paned windows but little else. Space for couch, TV, computers, and an upright piano was severely limited. The bedrooms were both adjoined to the small bathroom and had little room each for normal furniture configurations. Before the end of our visit another woman knocked to take her own look at the place. Without so much as a look around she left with complaints of a moldy smell in the air. Too true. Bottom line, we won't be living in that house on Point Defiance. The neighborhood seemed absolutely delightful and quiet so I hope to explore other rentals in this same area.
Our other major stop for this morning was at a block with numerous rental buildings including the Park Tower apartments. Although I'd seen this place online we gave it a look. We were led around by a nice man who showed us a 2 bedroom place on the 11th floor, northwest side (with a fantastic view of the Olympic Mtns.). The place was new, had a nice amount of space in all rooms, and only suffers for counter space in the bathroom. The price is nice, the building is quiet, the parking is reserved, the location is engaging, the view is stunning, and the idea of living there could seriously work. I didn't think I'd so easily buy into the idea of living in a high-rise apartment building but this one is certainly a possibility. There more I think about it, the more I could fit in there. Stay tuned...
Tonight Sarah and I spent some time at Leah's place with Cliff, Kareem, Brooke, and Marcus for his birthday. We hung around and caught up and then slipped in a tape of black comedians called Kings of Comedy - a Spike Lee Joint. Good stuff all around but Sarah and I had to bust out around midnight -- a full two hours after our normal bedtime.
