Seeking fall colors (inquire within)
A co-worker took a jab at my urban living yesterday by pointing out how much fall color she sees on her drive into work from Orting. I suppose I didn't need to admit seeing so few such colors since living in town but it did make me want to seek some out this weekend. I'm such a botanical ninny that if I follow the suggestion of this article in today's Trib, I won't be looking for any specific type of tree. I'll instead just be seeking mass amounts of photos. If everything works out my plan is to head up Mt. Rainier way -- not sure which way, mind you, but it would be fun to get out a bit.
Know any good spots for fall color around the PNW? Mt. Rainier? Kitsap Peninsula? Lemme know below!
P.S. - Would any other like-minded photo taker types like to carpool/caravan if indeed I do head out this weekend? I'm no expert in this sort of thing but it would be fun to bundle up and get out. Plus, the forecast doesn't even look to bad.

I don't know of any good spots, but I'd love to go out shooting if it's on Sunday after 9am.

KFnet friend Angela had the idea to counter the myth that we urban dwellers don't get to see any fall color. She suggests, instead of a trip to the hills, we stay in town and actually *look* for fall color that's right under our noses.
Highlight our beautiful city? Check! Save gas by staying close to home? Check!
What's everyone else think? If we stick around here do you think you could make it Roxy?

"She suggests, instead of a trip to the hills, we stay in town and actually *look* for fall color that's right under our noses."
That sounds like a better challenge more appropriate urban challenge for bloggers since they know the city like the back of their hand and is very pro- Tacoma.

South Pine street from, say 12th to 6th is awfully nice this time of year. Several years ago, the city planted a bunch of big-leaf maples along the medians. (Just don't drive too fast or I might come out chasing your car with a baseball bat.)
I haven't been out there, but I have to imagine that Union Ave north of UPS has got to be nice, with all of the mature maples in the median.

Here's my idea: Meet Sun. morning at 9am at the Tully's in Old Town.
Here's a vague list of areas we can venture to:
- Dock Street
- S. Yakima around 38th Street
- Wapato Park
- Snake Lake
- N Pine and Union
And anywhere in between we see anything we like. I can hold four total in my car. Who's in?

Depending on time, it looks like my alma mater's campus (PLU) is in full fall color: http://www.plu.edu/images/rscam_large.jpg

Shoot. I would love to come but I am singing on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon with Choral Arts. Maybe I'll just have to go solo next weekend. Have a great time and I look forward to seeing the results.

I Wish I werethere but unfortunately I'm staying in New york and missing the colors of fall badly. But I will enjoy the images you'll put up. So do share your photography with us. I'm waiting for cool autumn colors.
